Treatment of intermittently bleeding and bothersome internal hemorrhoids is now available with the use of infrared technology. Infrared light is “focused” in a specific area near the base of the hemorrhoid to “cauterize” the hemorrhoid. A one second duration of intense heat produced by the infrared light minimizes discomfort and bleeding and allows for the procedure to be conveniently done in the office.
